I forget where I live; love graffiti

Photographer Brian Ferry’s in Southern California, doing a show. Maybe it’s because he’s come from elsewhere — 2 years in London, and now New York — that LA looks preternaturally cheerful through his lens. A glowy fantasy-land. The non-grim LA. I remember it being quite strange:  tree trunks purple in the yellow streetlights, people wanting to know what I “did” instead of who I “was”, which baffled me at 18.

Take a look. Since when did Los Angeles get pretty?

Meanwhile, my friend Nina Lindsay is in Venice. She took the following photo. Whoever did this had courage.
